Wonderful to meet new Cafe in the Park boss Kevin and all team this morning. They’ve been trading for a few weeks now but today was their ‘OFFICIAL’ opening and the Mayor did the honours and cut-the-ribbon for this great little business.
As you might imagine, I’m really very proud of all the changes we’ve made to Central Park since we took over in 2003 and those improvements have definitely seen an upturn in people visiting the Park. Some will visit for particular events – things like our Sunday Bandstand Concerts, Open Air Theatre or Cinema in the Park but many will just be soaking up the peace and quiet, admiring the great floral displays, walking the dog or a thousand-and-one other reasons for spending an hour or so in Central Park.
Having created such a great attraction, it was obvious that a little cafe would put the icing on the cupcake … so we built one! Gareth Johnson MP and I opened it on May 24th 2010 and I couldn’t be more proud of it.
If you haven’t yet been there, do pop along. It’s a great place to meet up with friends and enjoy some great food and drink.
